Painted Roses: Closing Reception
If you still have not caught Sergio Lopez' Painted Roses in person, here's your chance; You don't want to miss this one! The closing reception for "Painted Roses" will be held at Modern Eden on Friday, June 3rd from 7-9 pm, artist will be in attendance. The exhibition will be on display through June 4, 2011 and is free and open to the public.
.
“Painted Roses” presents the work of Bay Area artist, Sergio Lopez. Sergio artfully merges the figure in and out of the background playing with patterns of the femininity and delicacy of roses, with the dark, urban hint of floral tattoos and piercings all loosely played around the soft delicate translucence of the female figure. "Painted Roses" demonstrates how our real and perfect beauty is usually not visible or exposed; it is often covered by external facade dictated by the culture we live in, some of which is not easily removed or separated from one's true self.
Sergio's strongest influences include The Golden Age illustrators, Bravura painters, contemporary artists, concept designers, graffiti writers, and photographers. Sergio has been featured in Juxtapoz, artistaday.com, Hi-Fructose, Ink Butter, and many other publications. He has won multiple awards for his painting throughout California and beyond.
The Closing Reception will feature Live Music by DJ Arrian B. In conjunction with "Painted Roses", Modern Eden is exhibiting a group show introducing artists Lance Hewison, Kristin Kyono, and Albert Ramos. In addition, a collection of Modern Eden's favorite artists are collaborating on a "Wall of Roses", creating small rose themed works tiled onto one wall.
June 3rd is also First Friday in North Beach. Over a dozen local art spaces and galleries open extended hours on the First Friday of every month in our historic art district. Grab a map and peruse the wonderful art world with art receptions, live music, drinks, poetry, and entertainment throughout the neighborhood.

The exhibition will be on display through July 11, 2011 and is free and open to the public.
"The Anniversary Show" is a celebration of Modern Eden's first year and the amazing amount of fun, friends, and art we have all shared. Our showcase artists are Ryan Gannon (Grand Opening), Kristen Van Diggelen (The Garden Show), Nicomi Nix Turner (Nocturnal), Natasha Dikareva (Reliquaries), Bradley Platz & Kim Larson (The Studio), SCW Collaborative (SCW), Jaxon Northon (December Group Show), Leilani Bustamante (Menagerie), Mark Friday & Deborah Jang (Lost & Found), and Sergio Lopez (Painted Roses).
The June 11th Opening will have live music from local DJ Edward Aten (www.swift.fm) and drinks will be served to our 21+ guests.
In addition to The Anniversary Show, we will be showcasing a group exhibition called "Pieces of Eden" where every exhibiting artist of the past year was asked to make a piece that reflects their unique style.
