Prey: New Work by Leilani Bustamante
"Leilani Bustamante's work cuddles you with it's beauty and then whispers in your ear the nightmares and spectres that are just beyond the pale light. Growing up on the outskirts of suburbia between Santa Rosa and Fort Bragg, California, Bustamante's youth was full of contrasting images revolving around growth and the yet undeveloped rural areas near Fort Bragg. These points of views evolved into themes of decay versus growth and surface versus what is underneath, culminating in her artwork as darkly inviting images, full of mystery but also very full of life. You can view her work in her debut solo show, "Prey: New Works by Leilani Bustamante" opening August 20th at Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco." - Zach Tutor
